Month 1 - Prework

We have now had three weekly calls with our team as we prepare to go in country.  It has been fun getting to know everyone on the phone and I really look forward to meeting everyone in person.  We have all been very busy with our weekly assignments trying to fit it all in with all of our other work. I especially like the one on one chats as we get to really get a better glimpse of our teammates.

My name is Suanne McLellan and I was very fortunate to be assigned to a team of IBMer's to go to QingDao China and participate in a IBM Corporate Service Project.  This blog will document this experience.  The program I am participating in is called the Corporate Service Corps.  To be accepted you must apply.  You need to write several essays on why you think you will be a good fit for the CSC and the acceptance process is fairly rigorous.  There are so many people that apply that is is difficult to make the cut and you almost never get accepted the first time.    I applied 3 times before I was accepted.

Once you are accepted and assigned to a team you have 12 weeks of prework,  a 1 month in country assignment and then two months of post work.

I am so excited to be assigned to a China Team.  I find the culture so interesting and I and really looking forward to learning more about it.  I will be going with a team of IBMers from around the world. We begin our first week of prework next week and we begin learning about our assignment and our new team,  I can't wait!!
